Look Forward Only Glance Backwards

Are you a person that always thinks about what could have been or what should have been? Have your past or your spouses past kept you from moving on with your life? Are you the type of person that either brags about your past or uses their own past mistakes or others as a reason why you are not progressing ? Do you harp on past mistakes or mistakes that others have made against you? I have found that one of life's biggest obstacle is getting over ones past. What do I mean by that? Well most people I have found have a problem letting go of their past or have a problem letting go of other peoples past mistakes. Even though it is written in the Bible that man or woman should not judge the sinner, most people make themselves both judge and jury of other peoples lives. What makes me laugh is when some people out there(parents, family, friends or spouse) act like their life is perfect and free of sin. These people tend to tell you ,how you should live your life and always give you negative advice when it comes to living your life. Then ,there are others who judge you on your past mistakes and never take the time to realize that you have bettered yourself or that you are a new person now. What most people do not realize is that everyone makes mistakes and even though they may not want to change, they are changing just by living through life many experiences. Life teaches us all a valuable lesson, we all are sinners, no one is perfect and if we learn from each of our mistakes any of us can become a better person. But the only true way of improving yourself, life, marriage, friendships or family life. Is first by admitting that you are a sinner and as long as you live ,you  and others will always make mistakes. The key is not to keep making the same mistakes and to learn from your failures. If you look ahead and only glance at your past then , life in general will improve. Because the only way you can move forward is by not looking backwards and acknowledging whats in the past is in the past. What has been done in the past is over and it does not matter how many times you have been hurt, cheated on, lied too or deceived.Once it has been done it can never be taken away. So learn to do what our Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ has been doing over and over again forgive people then move on.Concentrate on your future and  the look ahead.Only glance backwards, because like it or not your future is right ahead.
Have a blessed weekend,
Charles
1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God
2 Timothy 4:8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing

  1. Thank you for this good reminder. Sadly, we often let our pasts dictate whether we will allow ourselves to have joy today--which is only a statement to Christ that His death for us was not good enough.

His death was good enough...better than good enough. So we need to let go and look forward only.
